Director’s note

Animal Farm was my first book. Not the first book I had read but the first book I had read. It was concise, darkly funny, and most importantly it prompted so much thought following its conclusion that I was left spending longer thinking about the book than I had reading it. Wherever you are in the world, there are sheep, there are horses, and there are pigs. Animal Farm speaks to the historical political geosphere in which it was created and yet holds value as a timeless sentiment and criticism of the politics that influences the world today.

Following the conclusion of CLUE in February of 2025, I had already set my mind on putting together a play that could simultaneously make you laugh and bite your nails – perhaps at the same time. Together with the enormous work of a cast, ensemble, and team behind me, we have achieved what I set my mind out to do. I don’t wish to ramble on for any longer, as Animal Farm is a work that speaks for itself. Grab a drink, sit down, feel free to laugh, and most importantly, find what you will.

In the words of Naturalist Henry David Thoreau: “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”
